DESCRIPTION:We’re pleased to invite veteran service organizations to an informational session on January 13\, 2026\, at the AZHC office in Phoenix. \nThis session will include a light breakfast\, an overview of the Arizona Veteran StandDown Alliance (AVSA)\, information about the 2026 Maricopa County StandDown and opportunities for veteran service organizations to support and get involved. \nThe 2026 Maricopa County StandDown\, the largest in the nation\, will take place on March 12-13\, 2026\, at the Arizona State Fairgrounds in Phoenix. This event serves as a one-stop resource and service opportunity for veterans who are currently experiencing/at risk of homelessness\, connecting them with critical resources and support. \nSpace is limited. SUMMARY:Trauma-Informed Approaches to Empathic Communication
DESCRIPTION:This workshop echoes self-awareness and principles of trauma-informed care\, then turns outward to explore empathy in the context of helping professions. The workshop presents trauma-informed care and self-awareness where skills and techniques will be learned\, practiced\, and internalized. These focus on the internal processes that form foundations for developing empathy and promote highly engaging encounters. By the end of the workshop\, participants will be able to describe how macro-level trauma influence affects communication patterns and responses; demonstrate foundational techniques in empathic listening\, attunement\, and autonomy-supportive communication; and identify strategies to promote verbal deescalation\, emotional safety\, improve engagement\, and strengthen interpersonal trust. \nLEARN MORE AND REGISTER: Trauma-Informed Approaches to Empathic Communication \nNote: This is an in-person training.
